On February 4, 2026, ECHA announced the official inclusion of n-Hexane and 4,4'-[2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethylidene]diphenol (BPAF) and its salts into the SVHC candidate list.

On December 15, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Member State Committee (MSC) unanimously agreed to list n-hexane as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC). Additionally, 4,4'-[2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethylidene]diphenol (BPAF) and its salts have been added to the SVHC candidate list without committee discussion.

On October 9, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced that the Member State Committee (MSC) unanimously agreed during its October meeting to classify 1,1’-(1,2-ethanediyl)bis[pentabromobenzene] (Decabromodiphenyl Ethane, DBDPE) as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC). ECHA plans to officially publish the notice in November 2025, adding it to the SVHC Candidate List. This move will further advance the phase-out of brominated flame retardants.

On June 2, 2025, the European Commission officially adopted Regulation (EU) 2025/1090, imposing new restrictions on the use of N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC) and 1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-one (NEP).

Helsinki, 23 January 2024 - The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has officially announced the 30th batch of 5 substances of very high concern (SVHC), bringing the total number of substances on the SVHC list (also known as the Candidate List) to 240. ECHA has also updated the existing Candidate List entry for dibutyl phthalate to include its endocrine-disrupting properties for the environment. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) was added in to the SVHC Candidate List in October 2008 in the first batch.

To protect workers and the environment, ECHA recommends to adds eight substances, including lead, to the REACH Authorisation List. Once substances are added to the REACH Authorisation List, companies will need to apply for authorisation before a specific date to continue using them.
